'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith resumes battle with City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he remembers the dramatic closing stages of Swansea's stunning fightback win against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The game ended with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles amid the pitch-side pile-on.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a long-range strike from 25 yards, and his teammate promptly converted the rebound before sprinting toward the East Stand to revel in the moment, with supporters swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

The victory sealed an incredible turnaround given the Welsh side had been behind 2-0 during the second half. In the euphoria, there was some unintended consequences. The midfielder recalled, "There was a spectator sort of calling out and Josh Key and I were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're people, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The victory booked a fourth-round match at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, opponents Galbraith ran close at the same stage of the FA Cup with the London side in February. He had arguably the best view when Orient took the lead in stunning style, with the attacker's long-range effort from about 45 yards going in via the bar and the Stefan Ortega. It seems unfair that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've given it to him for having a go from that far out," commented Galbraith, who began the game centrally before moving to right defensive wing after they changed shape. That meant getting to grips with City's winger, with whom he traded tops, and the winger was among the opposition who paid tribute to the way his former team attacked the game.

City's Quality

"Athletically they are exceptional but even the simple things and basic skills, they can just perform consistently," Galbraith says. "It seems as if they complete every delivery and they know how to dictate and neutralize a game. You can think you're holding your own and then abruptly they will just thread a ball past your midfield without you even spotting it. You have to be alert every second of the game. It requires a tough attitude and focus just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

Swansea pushed to sign Galbraith in January and beat off competition to secure him in the summer in a significant move. He made a name as a popular figure across two seasons at his former club and has rapidly done the same in his new home. At his previous team he joined forces once more with the coach, who earlier gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in first-team action on loan at his loan club from Manchester United. Then came a loan at fourth-tier Salford City, before he permanently left his boyhood club.

Development Path

"I was perhaps a bit naive going into senior level. I think numerous professionals would say youth team games is entirely separate. Sometimes it appears possession is exchanged without real physicality. There are limited hard challenges. Once you start playing first-team football you have to learn quickly."

Country Call-ups

He has demonstrated that maturation for both domestically and internationally, performing well for the Green and White Army, who remain in contention for the World Cup next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has featured in the past five games, including two matches encounters against Germany. His former international manager, Galbraith's previous international manager, paid him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he controls possession and his eye for a killer pass.

Early Days

This represents an incredible journey for the kid from the Queens Park estate in the Belfast suburb, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who used to see his parent, his father, also a midfielder, play for his father's team.

Red Devils Debut

The player's single match for Manchester United came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to the host city, where they competed on an synthetic surface and the venue ceiling was shut owing to temperatures of freezing cold. "It was a lengthy journey and it was freezing," he says, chuckling. "The days leading up, myself and quite a few of the young lads worked out jointly, so that helped us acclimatise. Just to join the main group and earn some playing time at the end was unbelievable."

Moving On

What was the challenge was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged a teenager? "This turned out relatively straightforward, because I got to the stage where I understood I wasn't going to make it at the top level. I'm extremely thankful for the years at the club but it got to the point where I believed I needed to go my own route, join a smaller club and play first-team games. Now I'm slowly working my way back up."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during the middle of the day at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has a commitment at 5pm: a driving theory test, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Until recently to the local area, the young professional was a frequent passenger in Swansea's nicknamed player transport, a minibus driven by academy staff, the drivers, which transports players to and from training and matches.

"It's myself a teammate, Ronald, an Ivorian player – Melker Widell used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's pleasant to socialize with the guys but I'm aiming to be the next one out of the minibus and on the road. The Portuguese player enjoys practical jokes; he's constantly causing mischief."

Supporter Connections

While playing for his former club, Galbraith would blend in with supporters on the Tube after starting his journey at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
